In closing the ‘Expression of Interest’ on-line application form for the Adi Samanunu Cakobau Talakuli scholarship, Tailevu-USA scholarship committee announced that a total of 22 applicants were received.
Of the 22 applicants 3 were from the tikina cokovata of Bau (1-Bau, 1-Mokani, 1-Dravo), 10 from Nakelo (1-Nauluvatu, 1-Waikete, 5-Vunivaivai, 1-Daku, 1-Namuka, 1-Nabitu), 5 from Verata (2-Naitutu, 1-Ucunivanua, 1-Natobuniqio, 1-Delasau), 3 from Sawakasa (2-Sawakasa, 1-Qelekuro) and 1 from the tikina cokovata of Wainibuka (1-Naivicula).
Criteria set by the Tailevu-USA scholarship committee is to ensure complete tertiary education for deserving students from the province of Tailevu facing difficult challengers in completing them.
Education history, grades, family income and their course of study tops the list of the selection process.
Scholarship provided by the Tailevu-USA scholarship committee is for tuition fees only and paid directly to their respective institutions.
After careful considerations 12 were shortlisted and sent application forms for the next phase of the selection process. Interviews will be conducted in the week of July 8 to finalize the scholarship recipients.
A luncheon will be held in the Tailevu provincial office on July 15 to formalize the scholarship awarded to the 5 final recipients one each from the 5 tikina cokovata.
